Introduction to Methi Chapathi
Methi Chapathi is a wholesome Indian flatbread infused with fresh fenugreek (methi) leaves. Packed with nutrients and a subtle bitterness, it’s a delicious way to include greens in your diet. Ideal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and pairs well with raita, chutney, or curry.
Ingredients for Methi Chapathi
- 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour (Atta)
- 1 cup Fresh Methi Leaves (cleaned and chopped)
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Grated Ginger (optional)
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- ½ tsp Red Chili Powder (optional)
- 1 tsp Oil or Ghee (for dough)
- Salt to taste
- ¾ cup Water (adjust as needed)
- Extra flour for rolling
- Ghee or oil for cooking (optional)
Steps to Make Methi Chapathi
1.Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine wheat flour, chopped methi leaves, cumin seeds, turmeric, chili powder, ginger, salt, and oil. Gradually add water and knead into a soft, smooth dough. Let it rest for 20–30 minutes.
2.Divide and Roll: Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll each ball into a smooth circle using a rolling pin, dusting with flour as needed.
3.Cook the Chapathis: Heat a tawa. Place a rolled chapathi on the hot tawa. Cook for 30–40 seconds on one side, flip, and cook the other side. Flip again and press gently for even puffing. Apply ghee if desired.
4.Serv: Serve hot or keep covered in a container to retain softness.
